If you had a negative thought, was it because that topic triggers you in some way? If so, you’re not alone. Most people have something that triggers them, and triggers can be small like when people have “pet peeves”. It’s okay to notice it and let it be there for a while. When you’re aware of the trigger, it is a critical step in the development of coping strategies and emotional resilience. Have you considered giving yourself permission to acknowledge the trigger, and give it its space?
If you had a positive thought, have you made progress in that area recently? Have you celebrated your recent wins enough to offset your Inner Critic?
