Today, we’re going to explore a topic that’s close to my heart: sharing ideas.
Ideas are sometimes referred to as “the seeds of change”, you sometimes hear they help to “spark innovation”, and ultimately are the foundation of any community growth. But how do we effectively share ideas with others so that idea takes root?
Today I’ll walk you through the process that you can use yourself and then I’ll provide a use case where I ask you to take action!
Know Your Audience
The first step in sharing an idea is to pinpoint your audience. Who stands to gain from your idea? This could be a specific group, community, or network that aligns with your idea. By understanding your audience, you can customize your message to resonate with their interests and needs. This is also generally an audience where you have already been granted permission to engage with them - [permission-based-engagement].
Articulate Your Idea
Ensure your idea is clear, concise, and actionable. It should be easily digestible and understood by others. Remember, simplicity is key. The easier it is for people to grasp your idea, the more likely they are to engage with it.
Select the Appropriate Platform
Depending on your audience, choose the most suitable platform to share your idea. This could be a blog post, a social media update, a video, a podcast, or a presentation at a meeting or conference. The right platform can significantly increase the reach and impact of your idea.
Engage and Encourage Feedback
Encourage your audience to provide feedback and engage in a discussion about your idea. This can lead to valuable insights and potential improvements to your idea. Remember, communication is a two-way street.
Follow Up
Keep your audience updated on the progress of your idea. Share your successes, challenges, and lessons learned. This not only keeps your audience engaged but also builds trust and credibility.
Now, I have the example of how to put this to use, by showing you my own small request!
Audience: you!
Articulate the idea: If you found this Substack to be helpful, please share the TowardWellth Substack with people in your network who could benefit from its message. If you’re unsure and prefer to put out your own social media message to all your followers, please feel free to do so - as you never know who might benefit from these insights!
Select the appropriate platform: Substack! you all are part of the group that has subscribed to read these posts regularly. I appreciate each of you for continuing to give your support for the TowardWellth mission!
Engage and Encourage Feedback: If you follow the call to action, great, thank you! If you aren’t inclined to share this Substack with others who you think may benefit, please give me further feedback (private message me! - ed@towardwellth.com).
Follow Up: There are currently 70 followers of the TowardWellth Substack. There is also a guest column post coming up on June 5 (which I will syndicate here) which will boost awareness of this initiative. I will provide at minimum quarterly updates to the growth of this group!

Beyond this request, think about ideas that you’ve recently either encountered that impacted you or thought of but have not yet acted upon. Think about who you could share that idea with - either for their benefit, or to get feedback. Please share back with me any successes you have!
